CSCO Cisco
Quality cash machine with AI optionality, but 107 still prices in more growth than Cisco has shown.
The story
Cisco is a mature, cash-rich networking franchise. Its moat is the enterprise installed base and switching costs, and it is moving toward recurring software and security revenue through Splunk. AI data-center networking has pushed growth back into high single digits, but Arista and white-box vendors hold the high-growth hyperscaler segment. Cisco is late-mature: it can take cyclical AI and refresh upswings but earns only modest real growth over the long run.
Growth and margin are about where they were: TTM revenue of 63.3B (up 11.8%, helped by Splunk) and a 27.6% margin match the story, so y1 growth stays at 7% and target margin moves only slightly, to 28%. I raised sales-to-capital from 0.85 to 1.4 because the reported 0.79 is inflated by Splunk goodwill; organic reinvestment is light (capex of 1.41B is below D&A of 2.54B). I also moved terminal growth up to 3% and beta down to 1.0 because my prior value was less than half the market price. Even after these changes I still see limited upside, but the gap with the market is now easier to defend.
