RDDT Reddit
Real profits and a unique data moat, but price still assumes flawless monetization and search dependence.
The story
Reddit is a large, hard-to-copy archive of human conversation organized by interest communities, and it earns money from ads and from licensing its data for AI training. It has moved from heavy losses to strong profits, and TTM operating margin is 28% on $2.78B of revenue. The company is still early in monetizing its audience: revenue per user trails Meta and Pinterest. Growth depends on Google search traffic and on ad-tool maturity, and both are volatile.
The facts changed, so I raised the target margin from 18% to 25% (a +39% relative move). TTM margin reached 28%, and a capex-light model with high incremental margins makes the 18% target look too punitive. Normalizing below 28% leaves room for spending on AI, international expansion and sales. I nudged Y1 growth to 30% (from 26%) because TTM revenue is running about 26% above FY and ad momentum persists. I extended the horizon by one year to reflect the long monetization runway. Beta and terminal growth are unchanged.

Key risks
- Google search algorithm or AI-overview changes cut logged-out traffic
- AI data-licensing deals are not renewed or reprice lower as LLM training needs shift
- Moderator/community backlash or ad-market cyclicality compresses pricing and user growth
Catalysts
- International ad monetization and machine-translated content scaling revenue per user
- New or expanded AI data-licensing and Reddit Answers search monetization
