VEEV Veeva Systems
A high-quality life-sciences cloud monopoly, but the price already assumes a flawless mid-teens-growth franchise.
The story
Veeva is the vertical cloud standard for life sciences: its Vault platform runs clinical, regulatory, quality and commercial workflows for most large pharma companies, and those workflows are deeply embedded and validated. That makes switching costs high and gives it pricing power. The business is maturing from hypergrowth into durable mid-teens growth. The CRM migration off Salesforce and the expansion of Development Cloud and AI agents (for example, AI Study Builder) extend the reinvestment runway. It has a fortress balance sheet with no net debt and roughly 30% GAAP operating margins that are still rising.
Growth of 13% sits just below the roughly 14% five-year CAGR, reflecting a larger base and a concentrated pharma customer set. GAAP margin rises from 30% toward 37%, which is below the non-GAAP level of about 44% because stock-based compensation stays a real cost. I use 1.8 for sales-to-capital instead of the reported 0.48, because the reported figure is distorted by acquired goodwill and excess cash, and asset-light SaaS reinvests efficiently. The 12-year horizon reflects a real franchise moat. Even so, the value lands below the market price, so the stock is priced for better than this story.
